Finally....

I finished my test!!!!
I am so excited to have finally finished the final. WHEW!!!!!
My sweet hugsum will mail it tomorrow for me.

As soon as I finished I wanted to celebrate. I wanted to go get a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. I was saved from it because we don't have one anywhere around. Glad I didn't because the course was about the demon sugar (not a quote from the text - just the interpretation). Would have been a form of irreverence!.... guess it was just rebellion!

Honey and Cinnamon

I know this is long... so, I'm adding MORE words to read - but I'd like to encourage you to read it all the way through if you are interested in your health - or just print it out... (Thanks, Judy for sending this to me.)

If this is true, it is amazing... Let's all go out and get some honey and cinnamon! It would be worth a try and what could it possibly hurt? The cost is minimal but the rewards outstanding! (especially if it can help a 100 year old do what a 20 year old can!)

Facts on honey and cinnamon:

It is found that a mixture of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a "Ram Ban" (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases.

Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada, in its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS:Arthritis patients may take daily, morning, and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS:Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

TOOTHACHE:Make a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey and apply on the aching tooth. This may be applied three times a day until the tooth stops aching.

CHOLESTEROL:Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS:Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey wit h 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure mos t chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.

UPSET STOMACH:Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.GAS:According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that if honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM:Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION:Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.

INFLUENZA:A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural Ingredient which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY:Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

PIMPLES:Three tablespoon s of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER:Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three times a day.

FATIGUE:Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than! than being detrimental to the strength of the body.Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week.

BAD BREATH:People of South America, first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS:Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing.Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on it!

Elderly, Gotta Love Um...

Since there has been much discussion on aging...
I'm posting an email my daughter sent me - enjoy!

An elderly gentleman... had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again."The gentleman replied, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet.I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!"________________________________

Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement center were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says: "Slim, I'm 83 year sold now and I'm just full of aches and pains. I know you're about my age. How do you feel?"Slim says, "I feel just like a newborn baby.""Really!? Like a new born baby!?""Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants."________________________________

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, "Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly."The other man said, "What is the name of the restaurant?"The first man thought and thought and finally said, "What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... The one that's red and has thorns..""Do you mean a rose?""Yes, that's the one," replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, "Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?"________________________________

Hospital regulations require a wheel chair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet, who insisted he Didn't need my help to leave the hospital. After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator. On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him."I don't know," he said. "She's still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown."________________________________

Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things.During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember.
Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair."Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?" he asks.
"Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?" "Sure."
"Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?" she asks.
"No, I can remember it."
"Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so's not to forget it?"
He says, "I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."

"I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?" she asks.
Irritated, he says, "I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!"
Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.
She stares at the plate for a moment."Where's my toast?"________________________________

A senior citizen said to his eighty-year old buddy:"So I hear you're getting married?""Yep!""Do I know her?""Nope!""This woman, is she good looking?""Not really.""Is she a good cook?""Naw, she can't cook too well.""Does she have lots of money?""Nope! Poor as a church mouse.""Well, then, is she good in bed ?""I don't know.""Why in the world do you want to marry her then?""Because she can still drive!"________________________________

Three old guys are out walking.First one says, "Windy, isn't it?"Second one says, "No, it's Thursday!"Third one says, "So am I. Let's go get a beer."A man was telling his neighbor, "I just bought a new hearing aid. It cost me four thousand dollars, but it's state of the art. It's perfect.""Really," answered the neighbor . "What kind is it?""Twelve thirty."________________________________

Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical. A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm. A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, "You're really doing great, aren't you?"Morris replied, "Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.'" The doctor said, "I didn't say that. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur;be careful."________________________________

One more. . !
A little old man shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlor and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool. After catching his breath, he ordered a banana split. The waitress asked kindly, "Crushed nuts?""No," he replied, "Arthritis."

Monday all day!

I got up late...

didn't like the outfit I had picked out last night, so had to change - uh! I hate changing clothes.

Work was extremely busy for the end of the month. We had lots out sick so we were short handed.

We had a called meeting at work...

I had a hard time balancing so was late getting home...

Had to go to "town" to buy some vitamins and groceries (mostly vitamins)...

Had a meeting at 7 in "town" - but got there at 6:30 so I could study and do more work on my exam (which I could not get more help on)

Had to go in early because I was spotted sitting in my car... it was a boring useless dead meeting...

Finally after 9 - I turned to the lady next to me and said, "I've GOT to go!" She agreed and we gathered our stuff - said our apologies and RAN out - relieved to be out.

The praise in all this? God is still on His throne.
I was aggressive and confronted the situation and took control. They can go on for hours and hours discussing mute points (is that the right phrase?) if they want, but I had the choice and I didn't want to waste any more time.

Hugsum was proud of me for being bold. I think this getting older is good in some ways. I frankly don't feel the need to get their approval any longer. I can say and do what I need - as long as I'm nice and don't hurt people with my words... (as in the last post where I was critical of a teenager)...

The best part - a new day's coming.... new mercies, new grace, new opportunities... I think I'll go to bed so it will get here sooner and I'll be refreshed and ready!

ooops....

So last night our local basketball team was playing in the district finals. I have managed to get out of going to all the games, except one.

My hugsum loves basketball. All our children played and I faithfully went to all the games I could. (er - couldn't get out of, I should have said)

I enjoy watching the kids play. I enjoy basketball more than any other sport (that's not really saying much)

I realized WHY I don't like to go... it turns me into a bad person. I get so angry at the officials (yes, I want to curse them and spit on them... not a good witness, here)

Also, I know too much about how the game should be played after about 20 years watching my kids play and hearing coaching from the sidelines...

So, when I see dumb moves and bad plays, I get frustrated.

We were watching a game before OUR guys played. I was very vocal about a particular player last night. The team was winning until they put in #25. She was full of enthusiasm and heart, but she was not guarding her person, she made lots of mistakes and jacked the ball up every time she got it - always missing the basket and losing the ball. This happened over and over and over. They eventually went from a 10 point lead to losing by 10!... I credit it all to that #25.

After the game was over, the couple RIGHT in front of us happened to turn around and look at me.... ouch... I wanted to fall in a hole - I think they were her parents!!!! YIKES .... what a dummy and heel I felt like. I was so sorry that I had allowed my opinions and criticism to come out of my mouth and hurt someone...

I have sworn off basketball. I can't handle the pressure and don't like the person I am when I'm at the games... it's so sad and so bad... I hate it when I SEE myself...

Gotta do more work... gotta get back on my negativity fast for Lent - hasn't gone so well. Wish I had given up chocolate!

Distracted???

Okay, so the other day at work my mind was obviously wandering...

The phone rang and so I picked it up and said, "Bank of the ......, this is MOM, may I help you?" .... dead silence .... then, "ahhhh, may I speak with ....?"

As I transfered the call and looked around, the entire teller line was staring at me then fell out on the floor laughing at me... I was crying I was laughing so hard.

One of the other girls finally was able to compose herself long enough to say tell me it was okay. One day she answered the phone and said, "this is Martha".... her name is Kathy! She said she had no idea WHERE that one came from...

Well, laughing is good for you - especially when we can laugh at ourselves.

Venting...

I'm guilty... I keep trying to help people who don't want my help! I guess I just need to keep my "knowledge" to myself because it is so frustrating!

Someone I know is constantly sick! Always has major health issues. She had the same thing I had a couple of weeks ago. I offered her some Zicam and she said she would go get some when the drug store opened.... she didn't... I was well in a day, she is still sick.

She went to the doctor and got yet ANOTHER antibiotic! She is always on an antibiotic for one thing or another. She says she is afraid that she is immune to them now and they aren't working. She has had surgery, cysts, boils, bladder infections, root canals, and the list goes on from head to toe of ailments. (this is in the 4 months I have known her!)

I know what to tell her to help her, but she refuses to listen to me. Yet, will take the advice of other sick people about what they are doing, but not of someone who is healthy!

In Ezekiel it says that if the watchman sees trouble coming and does not warn the people, their blood is on his head, but if he warns them and they don't heed, their blood is on their own heads.

I feel that I am to warn and offer what I have. I am not pushy, but just say... "this has been known to help that..." or, "you could try this"....

I am not against doctors. I have some wonderful friends who are doctors. I believe they help people to get well. I also believe that there are things we can do that will help us not to get sick to begin with!

I don't even begin to share Jesus with her since she goes to church (that doesn't believe that the rest of us will be in heaven too ;) )

Oh well... thanks for "listening". If you have any suggestions or wisdom, please share! My desire and reason for studying this natural health is to help people BE healthy!

TEST!

I have finally finished one more course in my Naturopathy degree. Yippee and hip hip hooray! Now, I have to take the final. I am working on it. It is an open book one. It is a hard one...

I have decided to get real serious about completing this degree.

I'll share more about what I am learning as I go...

Mainly, this course is about getting the junk out of your life and about vitamins and supplements. Basically, sugar and the "whites" are bad and all processed foods do harm. We need to drink pure water (distilled), eat as natural as possible and take our supplements (which vary from person to person).

more later....

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen supplements I take daily...

1. appetite suppresent, specifically, Slim 'N Up

2. vitamin C - Ester, because it is easier on system and absorbed easier

3. vitamin E - d-Alpha

4. Evening Primrose Oil

5. CLA (conjugated lineoleic acid)

6. folic acid

7. B-100

8. B-12 sublingual

9. Chromium Picolinate

Fellowship?

So, after my bold proclamation of what I'm "giving up" for Lent - I have failed miserably. I said that I already live a sort of fasted lifestyle as far as how I eat - so, I couldn't think of anything that I needed/should "give up" for Lent. Then I realized that I can give up negativity.

Well, not only did I begin being extremely negative, I ate and ate and ATE all the things I know NOT to eat - so I really did blow it! Thankfully, Lent is not over and God's mercies are new every morning and I can begin again, again...

I was reading Maggie's post on piercings and then I read my devotional this morning and it was about the "fellowship of sufferings". I realized that this is serious business!

We have so often taken lightly our gift of salvation, healing, deliverance and restoration to our Father. We also take lightly - or maybe we DON'T take - the responsibility for sharing our faith and the gospel with others.

He was bruised for our transgressions, yet we keep sinning...
He was beaten for our healing, yet we continue to be sick ...
He died for our reconciliation to the God and Father of love, yet we refuse to walk with Him and fellowship with Him...
He defeated the devil in his camp, and took the keys away from him - so that WE can walk in freedom and deliverance, yet we continue to walk in bondage...

What fellowship do we have with darkness? How can we continue to do what we know NOT to do and don't do what we know to do?

I know this is a little heavy this morning. I am just being convicted of my short comings and desire to do better and to be better.

I want to be a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving - that I may fellowship in love and joy and peace. I want to encourage us to be all that we are - to receive all that has been given to us and to walk in our postition of fellowshiping with the God of the Ages and in heavenly places...

(please forgive all the misspelled words - the spell check still isn't working and spelling is a weakness I have not overcome YET!)

Blessings as we fellowship with each other in truth and love!

Catching up...

So, I have been out of it for a few days... sorry, thanks for coming back to see if I'm still alive and around...

We had a great time in Tulsa with all the kids and grandkids.
Even got to celebrate a 2nd birthday party. Fortuantely, Grammy (the other grandmama) was there to take some pictures.

I was out of it. I mean, I had some wierd something and hugsum kept telling me I needed to stand FAR away from everyone - (so this is me while everyone else is eating cake..)and if someone came close I should hollar "UNCLEAN!" So they would stay away.

Here are a few pictures celebrating and playing.

This is Kendall after pulling herself up to standing in her crib for the first time. She was crying because she could not figure out how to get back down so she could go back to sleep.

We got back home and all I want to do is sleep. I started working fulltime on Monday (great planning - long weekend and then sick - do not make for a good plan to change schedule and add more to schedule
I'll post more later....

just blogging around...

Today I was just enjoying the world wide web and some blogs.

I clicked on my blog, then went to Flea's World and from there I went to A Musing Blog. She has a cute post on Texan humor and saying. (Thinking about Linda at 2nd Cup of Coffee and her question about the difference between Northern and Southern humor.)

So, anyway, back to A Musing Blog, she had a typing test on there! I don't think I have taken a typing test since I was in high school.... and that was over 40 years ago since I graduated in 1967!!!!

Well, I have often wondered how fast these little fingers can go on this keyboard. I was not happy with my score, so I took it over and over and over! In defense, I am on the laptop and not the desktop keyboard... I know... sour grapes!

I had so much fun, I thought I'd post it here for your pleasure and enjoyment.

Have fun!

We Ashed... or did we Lent?

Okay, so we celebrated Ash Wednesday.

Even though I'm the one who typed the worship guide, and knew what to expect - it was still meaningful (thanks for all the comments helping me understand it).

It was cleansing and refreshing because I allowed the Holy Spirit to search my heart and reveal areas where I needed to address and change and repent... (it was too short a time in the service for me to deal with it all... but the Holy Spirit continued the process)

I kept asking what/IF I needed to fast. I have cut out lots of things from my diet already, and cut back on breads, sugars, chocolate, diet cokes, processed foods... plus, we have so many things that we go to that we HAVE to eat (in love for those who prepared it for us). Plus, I already don't eat lunch because of my work schedule - so.... what could I do???

I heard something in my spirit that I had heard from Bill Johnson - he has his church fast negativity. In other words, don't allow a negative word to come out of my mouth. It is life changing and harder to do than not eating chocolate! It is so amazing how much negative is spewed from my mouth! YIKES!

After all, it is not what goes into my mouth that defiles me, it is what comes OUT...

So, pray for me in this fast... PLEASE, and if you'd like to join me in it, I'd welcome some company!

Page 123

Okay, this is a fun meme - and easy!

Flea has tagged me for a most fun and simple meme! I'm actually excited about this one. Here are the instructions:
1. Pick up the nearest book ( of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

The book I picked up (closest to me at the moment) is one of my Naturopathic books Putting It All Togehter: The New Orthomeolecular Nutrition...

Page 123 is talking about the nontoxicity of vitamins.

"Before any statement can be made about toxicity, one should specify the exact vitamin, the toxic dose and the duration of treatment. Otherwise, when examined in the light of their nonspecificity, these statements become meaningless. Indeed, every chemical, when used in quantities larger than can be disposed of by the body is toxic."

.... fascinating, isn't it???

Now, my 5.... hummm lets see....

Rebekah (sorry, always on my list), Elsa (a good young friend), Peggy (she's always reading something profound), Pam, a new found friend, and Cheryl (a fellow pastor's wife)

Have fun!

To Lent or not to Lent?

That is the question
Where we are they want to have Ash Wednesday services - complete with Ashes...

I don't understand. I'm sure there is some symbolism for this.
I just don't think that the early Christians saved the palm branches and burned them the next year ... neither do I read anywhere anything about Lent... I think as Christians we should live a fasted lifestyle and not relegate it to just 40 days.

Any wisdom or answer as to the validity of this practice? I fear it is a tradition of man that has the form of godliness without the power.
I guess this is my rant.

Did I tell you???

We are expecting our 5th grandbaby????
hehe - yeah, we are excited...

Surprise Find..

My favorite resturant around here is Luigis. It is a local, family owned Italian place with lots of atmosophere. Every time I go I order the SAME thing. I can not make myself order anything else. I enjoy tasting what others order and it is always delicious. But, this particular dish makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

The very first time we went to Luigis, our District Superintendent and his wife took us. I ordered this and when it was served three of us received our meals, but hugsum didn't get his. He told/asked us to please go ahead and eat. I was STARVING and while they were talking and politely waiting for the 4th meal to be served, I snuck (sneaked?) a bite. Before I could control myself I let out a very loud "OH! UMMMMMMM!!!". It was THAT good!

Well, last night I was flipping through a cookbook I received Christmas from my sweet sister-in-law. I opened up and THERE it was!!!!! I can't wait to fix it.

Chicken Piccata!!!!!

1 pound skinless, boneless Chicken Breast (halved lengthwise and pounded to 1/4" thick)
Salt and fresh ground pepper
1/4 cup All Purpose Flour
2 TBS unsalted butter
2 TBS Olive Oil
1/4 cup Lemon Juice
1/4 cup Capers
3/4 cup reduced sodium Chicken Broth
2 TBS fresh chopped Parsley

Directions:
Sprinkle Chicken with salt and pepper and coat lightly with flour. In a large skillet over med heat, melt butter with olive oil. When pan is hot, add chicken and cook until golden, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to plate. In the same pan add lemon juice, broth and capers and stir to scrap up any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Simmer until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Return the chicken to the pan and simmer until just cooked through, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to platter and sprinkle with Parsley.

At Luigis it is served over angelhair pasta... with bread.... YUMMMMMMM!

Enjoy!

Whatchadoin?

Twitter like - community blog.... from Maggie

I'm working .... using computer, printer, and cash drawer ...
Customer came up wanting cash and a printout (of her account)
I asked her if it was like wanting "coke and fries"? We agreed that we should offer coke and fries with cash and printout - we'd do great business!
